Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Installed Across Campus

Tags

We recently installed 21 electric vehicle charging stations across the BNMC, as one part of a larger energy plan for the Campus. These EV stations are available for use by employees, patients, and members of the community. Learn more about the BNMC and National Grid’s historic innovative energy partnership – “energizeBNMC” – that will transform the BNMC into a global benchmark for energy innovation. Another initiative of the partnership will be the creation of the Smart Home Buffalo on the BNMC, open to the public.

The installation of 21 electric vehicle charging stations across the BNMC was done through a partnership with the BNMC, Inc., AAA Western and Central New York, National Grid, Clean Communities of Western NY, NYSERDA, the Global Energy Institute, and the US Department of Energy. These charging stations were installed in November 2011.

These stations are located in the Innovation Center parking lot (589 Ellicott Street), the Ellicott Goodrich Garage (across from Buffalo General Medical Center and the Gates Vascular Institute), in the new employee garage at Michigan and Goodrich, and in the right of way along Ellicott Street across from the Innovation Center (will be operational when the street goes two-way next year).

For Electric Vehicle owners interested in utilizing BNMC’s new Electric Vehicle Charging Station Network please contact us at 716.854.BNMC to learn more or download our fact sheet. Initially, use of the EVSE will be provided at no cost to the public in an effort to foster increased use of battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.  The grant funds for this effort were a part of a $30 million dollar award through NYSERDA and five of the US DOE Clean Cities Organizations in NYS.

Please stay tuned as we post more information about this campus-wide initiative.
